Overview

The Nyx Dominion is a unified interstellar empire built upon the religion of Kithra, a faith centered on the worship, preservation, and study of ancient technological relics believed to have been left behind by celestial beings. Within the Dominion, church and state are one and the same. Religious doctrine forms the foundation of law, governance, and societal order.

The Dominion is led by a singular High Sovereign, who serves as both supreme political authority and divine spiritual head of the Kithra church. All governmental power flows through this office, and the Sovereign oversees religious interpretation, state policy, and imperial direction alike. Viewed not only as a ruler but as a living embodiment of divine will, the High Sovereign is revered by most as a god-like entity.

Nyx society is collectivist and communally driven, with citizens encouraged to place the empire, the Kithra church, and the High Sovereign above individual ambition. Many industries, research institutions, and economic systems are state-owned, and social status is often tied to service within religious or governmental structures. Preservation, research, and reverent reliance on ancient celestial technology define the Dominion’s priorities. Advanced and sophisticated, the Nyx Dominion draws its strength not merely from power, but from unity of belief and shared spiritual purpose.

Origin

The Nyx Dominion originated with the Khryll, native to the Nyx star system and the first species within it to achieve space travel. As the Khryll expanded beyond their homeworld, they encountered the Greys and the Eben. These newfound civilizations were less technologically advanced at the time. The Khryll offered these new species their knowledge of magic, technology, and interstellar travel, forging an alliance that gradually unified the three societies. Over time this alliance developed into a singular, integrated empire.
