Starfang Tribe

Origin

The Starfang Tribe began as an ancient orcish warband that rose to dominate their entire homeworld, forging a society built around conquest and strength. Their relentless militarism fueled rapid technological growth, allowing them to reach the stars earlier than most. Once among the stars, the orcs encountered and swiftly conquered the primitive species of their neighboring systems – establishing an empire rooted in social hierarchy and enslavement. Through this brutal expansion, the Starfang forged an enduring legacy of power, control, and unity through force.

Government & Structure

The Starfang government is built entirely upon the principles of social slavery. All orcs are born free, while every other species within their borders is considered property – owned, traded, or inherited by the free. At the top sits the High Chieftain, a hereditary ruler whose authority is absolute. The High Chieftain is always the first-born male of the reigning bloodline, which often leads to chaotic leadership transitions due to the short orcish lifespan.

Supporting him is a Council of Chiefs, each overseeing different aspects of military, resource, and planetary management. While the system is rigid and hierarchical, freedom can be earned through military service and loyalty. Many slaves who distinguish themselves through military service can rise to become free citizens – a path that binds the populace through both fear and aspiration.

Culture & Society

Despite being built on systemic slavery, Starfang society is surprisingly structured and disciplined. Military or civic service is mandatory for all, and education is integrated into this system from youth to adulthood. Citizens are trained, skilled, and assigned to roles that benefit the tribe – from engineers and pilots to warriors and artisans.

While outsiders may see their system as cruel, within the Starfang domain, the lines between master and servant often blur. Many slaves are treated as valued companions, apprentices, or even family, with some choosing to remain in servitude due to loyalty or comfort. Crime is rare, cities are clean, and infrastructure is maintained through a culture of discipline and duty. The result is a paradoxical society – one that thrives under oppression, yet functions with remarkable unity and pride. Freedom, however, remains the ultimate honor, and those who earn it through military service are celebrated as heroes and defenders of the tribes ideals.

Technology

Starfang technology revolves around the conversion of raw mana into a volatile energy source known as Plasma – a molten, corrosive green liquid that powers nearly every aspect of their civilization. This energy glows with a violent emerald hue, visible across all Starfang technology.

  • Power Systems: Starfang refineries convert raw mana into plasma, a volatile green energy stored in massive industrial vats. This plasma is pumped through a network of reinforced pipes that feed power grids, weapon systems, and starship cores. The constant hum and glow of these conduits are a defining feature of Starfang cities and vessels.
  • Weapon Systems: Starfang weaponry unleashes bursts of supercharged plasma that melt through metal and flesh before vaporizing on impact, leaving behind fields of scorched earth and corroded wreckage.
  • Starships: Starfang starships are large, rectangular, and heavily armored, their silhouettes resembling old seafaring vessels. Wide, flat decks mount massive cannons and siege equipment, while thick hull plating shrugs off most attacks. Their thrusters leave behind burning trails of green plasma.

Military & Warfare

The Starfang Clan is feared across the galaxy for its ferocity in battle. Their armies fight with overwhelming force, using coordinated orbital assaults and rapid deployment tactics. Massive warships unleash devastating plasma barrages before releasing relentless waves of drop pods – fiery green comets that deliver troops, vehicles, and artillery directly into combat zones. This method has become a symbol of terror across the stars. Once deployed, Starfang warriors fight with unbreakable resolve. For many, victory means freedom, and retreat is considered worse than death.

Their military design philosophy mirrors their society: heavy, brutal, and relentless. They lack speed and finesse, but make up for it with sheer power and unwavering loyalty. Every soldier fights with the fury of one seeking liberation, making the Starfang war machine one of the most dangerous forces in the galaxy.
