During a time when mortals wielded untamed, raw magic and Mythos and the gods were still discovering its limitations, a devastating mistake was made. An ancient elden on the world of Etheos, corrupted by chaos magic and demonic influence, tore open an astral breach between the material realm and Hellgard, unleashing a tide of darkness upon many worlds.
Through this tear, a vast army of demonic entities poured forth, led by the ruthless and cunning demon lord, Malgroth. The demons invaded countless planets, spreading chaos, slaughter, and destruction across the Star Wilds as they sought to claim the material realm for themselves. Entire civilizations were devastated, and countless worlds became battlefields in a war of survival.
In response, Mythos and the gods of Mythgard intervened. Recognizing the threat, they granted certain individuals among the sentient species immense divine power and magic, naming them the Mythicborn. These champions led the charge against the demonic forces, turning the tide of the war but at great cost. The battles left worlds scarred, reduced to ash and ruin, and the balance of creation teetered on the edge of collapse.
The Incursion culminated in a climactic battle between Mythos and Malgroth. Although Mythos was unable to destroy Malgroth outright, he succeeded in banishing the demon lord and his armies back to Hellgard, sealing the astral tear and restoring the barrier between realms. However, reflecting on the devastation caused by mortals’ unchecked use of magic, Mythos made a fateful decision. He stripped mortals of their innate ability to wield magic, severing their connection to its raw, untamed power. With this act, Mythos and the gods withdrew to Mythgard, leaving behind a broken and devastated Star Wilds, now void of magic save for remnants in rare relics and divine blessings.
